In August I went down to Guatemala to direct a shoot with Senator Rand Paul, who was part of a team of roughly 70 eye surgeons, nurses and support staff from the John A. Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah, and The Hope Alliance.
We drove 5 hours from Guatemala City up into the mountains, to Salamá. There we documented this team as they performed hundreds of cataract surgeries. Often, when the bandages came off the next day, the patients wept with joy as their sight was restored.
The team consisted of some of the top eye surgeons in the world. We shot in 4K on the Sony FS700 and on a Panasonic Lumix Gh4. We also shot on a Canon 5D Mark III and a GoPro mounted on a drone.
